VAI and IBM Watson Adding Intelligence to ERP

VAI and IBM have partnered to integrate Watson Analytics into S2K Enterprise ERP. Watson Analytics is a smart data analysis and visualization service that users can use to quickly discover patterns and meaning in their data – without any technical assistance. VAI and IBM are working together to directly feed data sets from S2K Enterprise and S2K Analytics into the Watson engine for analysis. Watson Analytics provides guided data discovery, automated predictive analytics, and cognitive capabilities such as natural language dialogue that users can interact with data conversationally to get answers they understand. Whether you need to quickly spot a trend, or you have a team that needs to visualize report data in a dashboard, Watson Analytics can help.

Once the S2K Enterprise ERP data has been added to the Watson service, users can then move to the discovery phase. The user can click on a specific data set or type in a question in the question bar. Clicking a specific data set provides prompts called "Starting Points," which deliver insights IBM Watson Analytics has calculated to likely be of the most interest to you. If you type a question into the question bar instead, then the system looks for that information in the data. You can also click the "Help" tool to learn how to pose a question in the correct format to the system. For example, when a user asks, "What types of products are more popular in November?", the system automatically pulls up several suggested questions and data sets in order of relevancy, such as: Top selling products for November?, What products drive November value?, and How does November compare to December?. From there, users can retrieve insights by clicking the suggestion that fits best. Watson Analytics provides visualized insights and a scrollable infographic for rapid consumption. Users can even change the visualization form with a couple of clicks, or filter the results for a more detailed analysis.

"What's great about Watson Analytics is that it automatically provides you with data insights and visualizations without having to develop dashboards or reports," said Joe Scioscia, Vice President of Sales, VAI. "It's great for both the novice user who is looking for the basics, as well as the experienced user who is looking to deep dive into the data. With Watson Analytics, users can quickly understand what your data is telling you with automation that does the hard work, so you can spend time using new, unexpected insights to drive your business.”
